Article I - Name, Purpose, and Authority

The name of the organization will be The Nature Club. The organization will have as its purpose, the preservation, rehabilitation, and education of nature as directly approved by the leadership class and indirectly by the school principal and the governing board of Castro Valley Unified School District.

Article II - Meetings 

Meetings will be held Thursday at 12:54 PM PST unless a special or emergency meeting is held.

Article III - Club Officers

The club officers shall consist of the following: CEO, President, Vice-President, Treasurer, IT Technician, Head of Social Media, Administration Liaison, Head of HR and Communications etc. Officer roles are not mutually exclusive; members may have more than one officer title.

Section VII.

The CEO is responsible for overseeing all operations of the club and ensuring the president is doing their job properly. They have the authority to demote, fire, or promote any club members, as well as the power to overrule any decisions made by others.

The club's Head of HR and Communications etc. will have the following responsibilities

Article V - Elections

Elections shall occur sometime in February. Elections shall take place via voting forms provided by the president or the CEO. Voters must be members of the Nature Club. All members shall have only one vote, except in the event of a tie, in which the vice-president shall cast one additional vote. Voting anonymity shall be decided individually. Election results shall be decided by a simple majority. Only the president and vice-president positions are determined in elections. All other positions are appointed by the president or the CEO. In the matter of banning a member, there are two courses of action. The first, a vote is taken (defendant excluded) and a two thirds majority is needed to expel said member. Second, the president can directly ban a member. However, that ban can be vetoed via a two thirds majority in a vote taken by all members except the president. Votes will also take place in issues of constitutional amendment (see Article VIII).
 

Article VI - Policy/Rules

This article outlines the policy and rules of the Nature Club, which has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and harassment, and violence is not tolerated. Slander is also prohibited, and swearing should be kept to a minimum. Swearing may result in punishment, and slurs are considered harassment and bullying. Any intent to harm nature by a club member will be taken seriously and may result in punishment.

Section I.

The Nature Club shall have a zero tolerance policy for bullying and/or harassment. Instances of bullying or harassment by a club member should be reported immediately. Bullying and harassment may result in immediate permanent ban and an incident report to the CVHS administration.

Section II

Violence in any form will absolutely not be tolerated. Violence by a club member or during a club meeting should be reported immediately. Violence will be met with an immediate permanent ban and an incident report to the CVHS administration. Instances of violence are defined as physical attacks on a peer with malintent. This can include but is not limited to: hitting, kicking, spitting, and shoving.

Section III.

Section III covers rules related to slander, profanity, and slurs. To ensure a positive and respectful environment, we ask participants to refrain from engaging in such behavior. The consequences for violating these rules may range from a verbal warning to a temporary or permanent ban. Any use of slurs will be treated as harassment and bullying, and will be subject to more severe punishments as outlined in Article VI, Section I.

Section IV.

In accordance with our values, intent to harm nature by a club member shall be taken seriously and the perpetrator shall be punished accordingly. Punishments may include condemnation, temporary ban, or permanent ban.

Section V.

In order to ensure a safe and pleasant environment in our club, we will ask that swearing be kept to a minimum. Participants that swear may be asked to cease such behavior. If a participant continues in loud and vulgar swearing, they may be punished with a temporary ban. Slurs of any kind shall be considered harassment and bullying and will fall under Article VI, Section I.

Section VI.

Club spending shall be limited to only what is deemed necessary by the president. Financial transactions must be approved by the president and CEO, then go through the treasurer, who shall submit a request form to the school finance office. The Nature Club shall have a zero debt policy, and not spend anything more than what is in the club account. A club account shall be set up by the treasurer via the school finance office. The treasurer must see to it that all financial matters are approved by the school finance office. Donations to charity must go towards a legitimate charity that puts all of those funds toward helping nature. The club treasurer must adhere to the school’s policy on club financials.

Article VIII - Amendments

Should members of the Nature Club wish to amend this constitution, a vote shall take place. A two thirds majority is needed to amend the constitution. The amendment must be prespecified by whomever is by the proponents. The vote shall take place in the same fashion as elections, and a tied result does not result in an extra vote by the
